Maxwell has played a single first-class game since 2019, turning out for Victoria earlier this year in February
Australia allrounder Glenn Maxwell is making a rare first-class appearance for Warwickshire in their County Championship clash with Kent.
The 34-year-old, who played the most recent of his seven Tests in 2017, has been at Edgbaston as Birmingham Bears' overseas player in the T20 Blast.
But Birmingham were knocked out in the quarter-finals on Thursday by Essex, and Maxwell – who had a frustrating Blast campaign – has stepped in for his first County Championship appearance since a stint with Lancashire in 2019.

Warwickshire are without Pakistani overseas seamer Hassan Ali, with Maxwell filling that void.
The county had Dom Bess on loan recently, with Jacob Bethell's back injury meaning he is only fit to bat at present, with Maxwell effectively the spin option at Canterbury, where Kent won the toss and opted to bat first.
