Glamorgan have signed New Zealand's Ajaz Patel for their September County Championship fixtures.

The 33-year-old became just the third bowler in history to take 10 wickets in a Test match against a strong Indian side in Mumbai earlier this year, and will add a fresh option for the Welsh outfit as they continue their push for promotion from Division Two.

Michael Wallace, Glamorgan's director of cricket, said: "He is a high-class operator and proven match-winner who will give us variety and options in our attack and hopefully help our promotion push as we reach the back end of the season."

Patel's most recent outings came during the Blackcaps' tour of England in June, and although he only bowled two overs in the first Test, he returned figures of 3 for 32 and 2 for 55 against a first-class counties XI.

"He is a high-class operator and proven match-winner who will give us variety and options in our attack and hopefully help our promotion push as we reach the back end of the season"

Patel also has a short stint for Yorkshire also under his belt.

He said: "I really enjoyed my short spell in county cricket in 2019 so when the opportunity arose to play again at Glamorgan I jumped at it."

Glamorgan, currently placed third in Division Two, will certainly look to make use of the experienced spinner's toolkit as they look to push for promotion in the remaining set of fixtures.
