Fixture: Kent v Sussex
Venue: Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Canterbury
Dates: Sunday, July 11 2021 - Wednesday, July 14, 2021
Start time: 11am
What's the lowdown?
Two sides with grand designs in the white-ball formats meet with the wooden spoon in group three on the line.
Kent are one of only two sides (Derbyshire are the other) without a four-day win this season, having lost three and drawn six of their nine games.
Sussex have only gone one better, claiming that only success Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens.
The two sides played out a draw in their last meeting, a match which saw Ollie Robinson take nine wickets and Jack Leaning score an unbeaten 127 in Kent's second innings.
Who's in form?
Twenty-year-old off-spinner Jack Carson's 31 wickets in his first full championship season has been among the highlights of the campaign for Sussex.
Add that to Robinson's England debut and the performances of Tom Haines, who has registered 648 runs including two centuries and three fifties and there have been some encouraging moments amid an otherwise gloomy campaign.
That Kent can continue to look at Darren Stevens, 45, as their premier red-ball performer says plenty about how their first-class season has gone.
The veteran allrounder has struck 459 runs - only keeper-batter Ollie Robinson has more - while his 28 wickets are 13 more than his next teammate.
