Fixture: Nottinghamshire v Durham

Venue: Trent Bridge

Dates: Thursday, April 8, 2021-Sunday April 11, 2021

Start time: 11am

What's the lowdown?

Nottinghamshire will be looking to put three years of miserable red-ball form behind them as they set out on the 2021 campaign.

Notts have not won in 27 attempts, and will be searching to put that run to bed immediately this year, as Durham come to Trent Bridge.

Neither team had much success in the Bob Willis Trophy last year; matches either being drawn or lost, with Nottinghamshire finishing two places ahead of Durham in their group.

What's the team news?

Nottinghamshire will be excited to show off their new player, Dane Paterson, who took his first wicket for the county on his debut during the recent friendly.

Paterson is part of a 14-man squad for the fixture.

Nottinghamshire squad: Jake Ball, Joe Clarke, Ben Compton, Ben Duckett, Luke Fletcher, Haseeb Hameed, Brett Hutton, Lyndon James, Tom Moores, Steven Mullaney, Dane Paterson, Liam Patterson-White, Ben Slater, Peter Trego

Durham's new arrival, 27-year-old off-spinning all-rounder, Alex Thomson, who is on loan from Warwickshire, will be available for this opening fixture.

Who's said what?

Jake Ball is looking to make a quick impact in red-ball cricket this year after spending time away with England's limited-overs squad in India.

“I’m taking all the positives from the way I bowled last year – and that’s not just me, the team played some really good red-ball cricket as well.

“We’re confident going into the game and looking to enjoy our cricket. Hopefully we can play well again and this time it will bring us a few wins along the way."

What's the weather forecast?

This weekend shouldn’t see any rain at Trent Bridge, however temperatures will remain low, unlikely to go above 10 degrees.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday look likely to be cloudy with a gentle breeze, before the sun makes an appearance on Sunday.
