Derby (day three of four): Derbyshire 443 & 89-0, Durham 575 - Derbyshire trail by 43 runs with 10 wickets remaining

England fast bowler Matthew Potts paraded his batting credentials as Durham piled on the runs in the LV= Insurance County Championship match against Derbyshire at Derby.

Potts scored 64 and shared an eighth wicket stand of 110 from 113 balls with Brydon Carse who made 80 on a day of stoppages at the Incora County Ground.

The Division Two leaders secured maximum batting points for the sixth time this season before they were bowled out for 575 with fast bowler Sam Conners claiming 5 for 115.

That gave Durham a lead of 132 but Derbyshire responded strongly in their second innings to close on 89 without loss, 43 behind, with Luis Reece 54 not out.

Headingley (day two of four): Sussex 216 & 236-7, Yorkshire 364-8 - Sussex lead by 88 runs with three wickets remaining

Yorkshire will hope the meteorologists have made a mess of the final day forecast as they chase an LV= Insurance County Championship victory over Sussex at Headingley.

Jonny Tattersall's side tried their utmost to win inside three days, but 58 apiece for opener Tom Clark and wicketkeeper Oli Carter went a long way to thwarting them.

Unbeaten promotion chasers Sussex were put under early pressure in the field as Yorkshire advanced their first innings from 286 for 4 overnight to 364 for 8 declared, scoring 78 runs in only 9.4 overs of play.

That meant the visitors started their second innings 148 behind with 92 overs remaining in the day, a tally reduced to 84 by a couple of rain showers. And they closed on 236 for 7 with a lead of 88.

Cheltenham (day two of four): Glamorgan 450-6 v Gloucestershire 134-1 - Gloucestershire trail by 316 runs with nine wickets remaining

Billy Root fell two short of a century as Glamorgan blitzed their way to maximum batting points on the second day of the LV= County Championship match with Gloucestershire at Cheltenham.

Kiran Carlson (76), Root (98) and Chris Cooke (86 not out) smacked 41 fours and two sixes between them to help the visitors extend their first innings from an overnight 152 for 2 to 450 for 6 declared on the fast-scoring College Ground.

Paul van Meekeren was the pick of a Gloucestershire attack, who found it hard to extract any help from the true batting surface. The Dutch seamer's figures of 3 for 92 from 21 overs were reward for sustaining impressive pace on his first Championship appearance for the hosts.

By the close, Gloucestershire had moved to 134 for 1 in their second innings, Chris Dent leading the way with 61 not out. With bad weather forecast tomorrow, the match already seems to be heading for a high-scoring draw.
