Cardiff (day three of four): Yorkshire 500, Glamorgan 273 & 120-2 (f/o) - Glamorgan trail by 107 runs with eight second-innings wickets in hand

Matthew Revis delivered career-best bowling figures of 5 for 50 to force Glamorgan to follow on at Sophia Gardens as he helped Yorkshire move into a winning position on day three of their LV= County Championship clash.

Chasing back-to-back wins after their recent triumph against Derbyshire, Yorkshire dismissed the Welsh county for 273 in their first innings as they chased a total of 500. That left them trailing by 227, and they were forced to bat again.

When play ended five overs short due to bad light, Eddie Byrom and Sam Northeast had put on 90 for the third wicket to take the home side to 120 for 2.

Hove (day three of four): Sussex 262 & 344-9d, Leicestershire 108 & 221-3 - Leicestershire need 278 runs with seven second-innings wickets in hand

An unbeaten century from Colin Ackermann kept Leicestershire in the hunt for an unlikely victory that would reignite their promotion challenge in the County Championship.

Ackermann was 103 not out at stumps on day three at Hove with his side on 221 for 3 and requiring a further 278 to beat Sussex.

The Hove pitch has certainly flattened out after 20 wickets fell in the first four sessions and Leicestershire were skittled for 108 in their first innings.

But it would still be a considerable achievement were the Foxes to deny Sussex a win that would kick-start their own promotion bid. The new ball, due after 16 overs on the final day, will be crucial in shaping the outcome.

Leicestershire will take encouragement from the fact that they chased 389 to beat Yorkshire at the start of the season while Sussex know all too well how much Ackermann loves batting at the 1st Central County Ground, where he made an unbeaten 277 last season.

Bristol (day three of four): Gloucestershire 377, Derbyshire 398-9 - Derbyshire lead by 21 runs

Skipper Leus du Plooy's fifth County Championship century of a prolific season ensured Derbyshire of a first innings lead on a rain-curtailed third day of the match with Gloucestershire at the Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol.

The 28-year-old South African was 103 not out at stumps, taking his run tally in the competition this summer to 1,155 at an average of 88.84, as his side posted 390 for 9 from an overnight 262 for 6 in reply to Gloucestershire 377.

Unbeaten on 44 at the start of play, du Plooy's innings extended to four hours on a slow pitch. He faced 154 deliveries and struck 13 fours. Left-arm spinner Zafar Gohar was the most successful of the home bowlers with four for 121 from 38 overs.
