Cardiff (third day of four): Glamorgan 403-9d, Leicestershire 28-0 - Leicestershire trail by 375 runs with 10 first-innings wickets in hand

A brilliant counter-attacking century from Michael Neser rescued Glamorgan from a precarious position on day three of their Division Two LV= County Championship against Leicestershire at Sophia Gardens.

The Australian allrounder hit a career-best 176 not out and James Harris 47 as the pair put on 128 for the eighth wicket before Mitchell Swepson smashed 69 off just 70 deliveries – his best-ever score – as he and Neser added another 123 for the ninth wicket.

It was a remarkable recovery from the hosts after the Foxes had ripped through the Glamorgan top order to leave them teetering on 93 for 7 just after lunch.

Glamorgan eventually declared on 403 for 9 in their first innings in a match severely truncated by the weather.

A dispirited Leicestershire closed the day on 28 for 0 from seven overs in reply in their first innings to leave a draw odds-on on day four.

Hove (third day of four): Sussex 402 & 193-5, Derbyshire 407 - Sussex lead by 188 runs with five second-innings wickets in hand

Teenager James Coles led Sussex's fightback with an impressive unbeaten century to set up an intriguing final day in their County Championship match against Derbyshire at Hove.

The 19-year-old reached the second century of his career six overs before stumps and will resume on 101 with Sussex 193 for 5, a lead of 188.

Brooke Guest had earlier become the first Derbyshire wicketkeeper to score a century against Sussex before they were bowled out for 407 to take a first innings lead of five runs.

Worcester (third day of four): Yorkshire 407, Worcestershire 242 & 22-0 (f/o) - Worcestershire trail by 143 runs with 10 second-innings wickets in hand

Ben Coad returned his season's best figures with the ball but Yorkshire's victory push was held up by stubborn resistance from the Worcestershire last-wicket pair of Adam Finch and Ben Gibbon on day three of the County Championship match at New Road.

Coad finished with 5 for 33 from 21 overs – the 11th five wicket haul of his career - and he was well supported by Mark Steketee and Matthew Fisher as Worcestershire were forced to follow on 165 behind.

But Finch and Gibbon ate up invaluable time to bolster Worcestershire's hopes of securing a draw as they batted for 35.3 overs during a last wicket stand of 63 – the highest partnership of the innings.

It kept Yorkshire out in the field for two hours and put extra miles into the legs of some of their bowlers when they were itching to have a crack at the Worcestershire top order for a second time.
