As a Blaze supporter gutted to be on the losing side today. Some observations: The boundaries were noticeably larger. The fielding was noticeably stronger, the ‘drops’ being difficult chances for Blaze, some great ground fielding particularly from Beaumont and Groves, Lancs boundary fielding in the first innings when the outfield was slower was admirable too. The presence of more England players along with experienced senior players having renewed energy in making their mark due to CE providing renewed hope of reward for consistent performances, raised the standards. The first round has set the tone and I for one, as an avid follower of women’s cricket all year round can’t wait to see the players go from strength to strength every game…. And hope AJW’s self belief and ‘not over til it’s over’ attitude is contagious!
