Planning for 2025 is, of course, important. But for me Lancashire's prospects are not going to improve unless serious changes occur. In the winter they appointed a new head coach who'd won only 2 of his 28 Championship games at his previous club. So no-one but the people at Lancashire who hired him should be surprised that right now we've won only 2 out of 9 Championship matches this season. And in the One-Day Cup his record is even worse: 5 defeats in 5 matches and counting. So it seems to me that Lancashire has serious problems in the club's leadership positions, including but not limited to the head coach, which cannot be addressed merely by shuffling the pack of players for next season. At what point do senior figures start to become accountable for their mistakes? How long does an abysmal set of results have to get before there are repercussions?
