Liam Dawson has committed his future to Hampshire after putting pen to paper on a two-year contract extension.

Since making his debut in 2007, the 32-year-old allrounder has been a regular in the Hampshire set-up, helping them to five pieces of silverware across all formats.

Last season, Dawson was a key figure in both T20 and red-ball cricket.

In the former, he took 10 wickets in nine appearances and posted an economy of 7.11 despite bowling numerous powerplay overs as the Hawks reached Finals Day.

In the LV= Insurance County Championship, he scored 449 runs, including one century, and took 18 wickets at 34.66 in 12 appearances.

Dawson also represented Southern Brave in The Hundred on four occasions.

Since the start of 2022, he has put some T20 miles under his belt, returning to the England XI against West Indies and representing Islamabad United in the PSL.

Commenting on signing his contract extension, Dawson said: "I’m delighted to have signed a contract extension. Having been here since I was a 10-year-old, coming up through the age groups, signing for another two years is really exciting and I’m really looking forward to what comes next."

Director of cricket, Giles White, added: "Liam is an integral part of the team across all the formats. He is obviously a high-quality all-rounder, but he also brings a competitive spirit and passion for winning which is valued highly by us all."

Dawson is the second Hampshire player to sign a new contract in the past week after Mason Crane committed to an extra three years at the Ageas Bowl.

Coupled with the return of Mohammad Abbas, Hampshire are succeeding in pinning down the bulk of the bowling attack which took them to within touching distance of two trophies in 2021.
