Colin Ackermann will swap Leicestershire for Durham from 2024 after signing a three-year contract with the county.

On June 22, Leicestershire announced the allrounder would leave Grace Road at the end of the season, alongside Callum Parkinson and Chris Wright, after turning down a new deal.

Parkinson is also moving to the north-east after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal of his own while Wright is heading to Sussex.

The Netherlands international has played over 150 first-class matches, scoring 9,956 runs at 40.14 and taking 80 wickets, while in T20 cricket he has scored over 3,500 runs at a strike rate of 121.11 and taken 76 wickets with an economy of 7.29.

He has made 181 appearances for Leicestershire in seven years, serving as club captain between 2020 and 2022.

Commenting on his move to Durham, where he will be reunited with former Netherlands head coach Ryan Campbell, Ackermann said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be joining up with Durham from next season. I feel the time is right for a change and a new challenge.

"There will be a few familiar faces in the changing room which is always nice, and I look forward to creating some amazing memories on the field."

Director of cricket, Marcus North, added: "Colin is a proven performer in county cricket and to have secured his signature among a lot of competition is great news for Durham.

"Recruiting an experienced batting allrounder who can perform in all formats was a priority to our recruitment strategy. Colin comes with an outstanding playing record, leadership qualities and character that fits well with our Durham environment."
