"When you get the hang of it, it really performs"
RRP: £550, Edges: 35mm, Weight: 2lb 10oz
The last thing you want to hear when you try the most expensive bat at £550 is that it has "quite a hollow middle."
The Wombat weighed in at 2lb 10oz and our testers certainly felt it, with one student commenting: "Quite heavy, felt good in swing though."
Meanwhile, former England opener Mark Stoneman enjoyed taking it for a swing, the trust was there
He said: "Solid. Well-made but a bit on the heavy side. Could distribute the profile a bit better."
As Stoneman alludes to, the build quality is where the Wombat shines, with a top 10 score, and it’s fair to say that opinions improved with repeated use. "When you get the hang of it, it really performs," one student told us.
A bit of a grower, then, is the Wombat Onyx LE.
