This is one for the powerlifters among you.

"For those who like heavy bats and translucent handles," remarked Nick Friend, The Cricketer's resident tester and journalist. He struggled for timing and found the pickup a challenge, while also dubious of a near-see-through grip.

Mark Stoneman, the former England Test opener, also took issue with the handle, calling it "too thick" for his preference. "It just felt a bit sluggish in the hands, but a good performance overall."

That was broadly the take of the three student testers as well.

"This has a really nice middle," said one, describing it as "a lighter bat and therefore with an easier swing to get through the middle".

Another student found the pickup far lighter than either Friend or Stoneman but was similarly unsold on the stickers and grip. "A good-sized middle though," he added, "slightly higher than some of the others."

An average rating of seven across its four categories perhaps telling the tale of a decent, if unspectacular, piece of wood.
