"Really nice, light pickup"
RRP: £400, Edges: 34mm, Weight: 2lb 7oz
A colourful number and certainly enough to take your attention. For that reason this is an unusual Gunn and Moore, known more for its clean-cut traditions than a rainbow-coloured logo with a yellow handle.
It performed well enough, too, across the board for the Psyche to warrant further attention.
Mark Stoneman, the former England Test opener, was a fan – once he got past the busy stickers. "Once you get used to them," he said, "the bat goes really well."
Others weren't quite so sure. Two students suggested they "didn’t really get a ping off the middle", while Cricketer journalist and tester Nick Friend was unsure about the pickup.
He was alone in that thought, though. "Really nice, light pickup," was how one student judged the bat in his hands, while a third student also praised its featherlike weight.
Of the Gunn and Moore options on show, this was certainly the most vibrant, with its wild colour scheme a step away from GM's reputation.
