PROMOTIONAL FEATURE

Getting tailenders to improve their batting is often a bit of a chicken and egg scenario.

How do you give them the practice they need when they’re unable to face the standard of bowling required to do so?

Whether they’re getting deliveries from batters hitting the roof of the net, or half-hearted efforts from fellow bowlers tired by the end of a session, solutions need to be found to help those whose contributions with the bat can often end up being so pivotal in tight games.

That’s where the BOLA 2025 Professional bowling machine comes in, guaranteeing good quality deliveries for everyone at your club, whether they open the batting for the First XI or are a junior no-hoper picking up a bat for the first time.

“The classic net session ends with the Nos.10 and 11 batting last and the bowlers are tired,” says BOLA’s Olly Ralph.

“The batters end up bowling at them and they don’t get practice.

“But we all know Nos.10 and 11 win us games of cricket sometimes, so having bowling machines which allows them to have the same good quality practice as your top order is key really.

“It gives them that confidence that they can go out on a Saturday and bat as well as anyone else.”

Innovations like variation mode allow batters to face different speeds and amounts of swing, as well as different setups giving those facing the chance to drill specific shots.

Up to 620 balls can be delivered in a two-hour session, while the machine’s portable battery means it can be used in indoor or outdoor nets, as well as on the square to help bring that all-important feel of a match scenario.

Longevity is guaranteed too, with some BOLA customers still using machines that were built 30 years ago, meaning a junior facing a BOLA machine for the first time today could still be facing it as an experienced first teamer in years to come.

“If you’ve got a player that’s new to cricket or wants to drill a specific shot, that’s what the machine does,” adds Ralph.

“It bowls in the same spot so you can hone your technique or do match practice. It helps everyone from a first team player right down to the juniors.

“In fact, for juniors they’re more important because they’re new to cricket and need to work on their technique.

“Everyone thinks bowling machines are just top end and associate them with bowling at more than 70mph, but you can use them at lower speeds.

“They’re great for the youngsters and women’s teams. You can use a softer junior ball to give everyone an enjoyable experience.

“We’re number one at what we do but we want to allow more people to play cricket. You can have a bit of fun and play games with them, as well as hone your skills.”
