Perth: Adelaide Strikers 133-7, Perth Scorchers 136-7 – Perth Scorchers won by three wickets

Scorecard

Perth Scorchers climbed up to second in the Big Bash table after defeating Adelaide Strikers by three wickets.

Chasing 134, the Scorchers were in trouble for the first half of their innings, losing Faf du Plessis, Adam Lyth and Nick Hobson inside the powerplay and later finding themselves 72 for 6 in tenth over.

However, captain Ashton Turner kept a calm head and saw his side home with five balls to spare, finishing unbeaten on 48 from 38 balls. Earlier, Josh Inglis (19 off 12) and Aaron Hardie (22 off 17) both failed to push on from bright starts with the bat.

Rashid Khan (1 for 15), Colin de Grandhomme (1 for 17) and Matthew Short (2 for 11) impressed with the ball but Henry Thornton had a day to forget, offsetting his two wickets with leaking 46 runs.

In the first innings, Adelaide Strikers had struggled to let loose with the bat, with opener Short's 26-ball 16 a prime example of Perth's stranglehold on proceedings.

Chris Lynn top-scored with 35 runs off 34 balls as the Strikers closed on 133 for 7.

Andrew Tye collected 3 for 30 while Jhye Richardson, Ashton Agar and Peter Hatzoglou all recorded economies below six an over.

After beginning the season with three consecutive wins, the Strikers are now on a two-match losing streak and have only retained top spot due to their superior net run rate.
