Big Bash squads 2021-22: Full BBL11 player lists

Nic Maddinson and Lance Morris have left Melbourne Stars for pastures new ahead of the 2021-22 Big Bash season.

Opening batter Maddinson has signed for cross-city rivals Melbourne Renegades, committing to the club until the 2023-24 season. Pace bowler Morris has joined Perth Scorchers.

Maddinson, who spent six years with Sydney Sixers, has made 90 appearances in his Big Bash career, scoring 1,741 runs at a strike rate of 124.53. Last season, he scored 134 runs in nine appearances for the Stars, including a top score of 48.

Commenting on joining the Renegades, he said: "I am really pleased to be joining the Renegades for the next three years. I have really enjoyed my time playing BBL in Melbourne and I’m excited that I can continue that journey wearing red.

"I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to contribute on the field and help push the team towards BBL finals. I’m also looking forward to supporting some of the younger guys around the squad as they continue to develop."

Renegades head coach, David Saker, added: "We’re really pleased to have Nic on board with us for the years ahead. Together with Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh and Sam Harper, Nic gives us another good combination option and obvious experience in the top half of the batting order. He’s also got good hands in the field and has captained other teams which will be beneficial to us."

Morris, meanwhile, joined Melbourne Stars in 2019 and has taken one wicket in seven Big Bash appearances.

The 23-year-old, who can bowl up to 140kph, was named Western Australia’s rising star last season after making his debut in both first-class and List A cricket.

Scorchers head coach, Adam Voges, said: "He’s an exciting talent who bowls with genuine ball speed. We’re looking forward to him continuing his development as a Scorcher."
