Both players suffered bad injuries during the failed run-chase against Hobart Hurricanes - with subsequent assessment delivering contrasting prognosis for the pair
Melbourne Renegades will be without Shaun Marsh for the remainder of the Big Bash League - but there is better news for Sam Harper who suffered a concussion during the run-chase against Hobart Hurricanes.
Scans have revealed that Marsh has suffered a grade one tear during the defeat on Tuesday before going on to make 56 from 30 balls during the failed pursuit of 191.
Marsh has therefore been ruled out of the Renegades' final two matches against Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat.
Harper, meanwhile, could play again in the competition despite a concussion forcing him out of the game against Hurricanes, following a collision with Nathan Ellis.
The 'keeper-batsman was on six when he flipped over Ellis at the non-strikers' end and landed awkwardly.
Tom Cooper was brought in as the concussion substitute as 23-year-old Harper continued to be assessed.
He was taken to hospital for further observation before being released and remains in contention for the twilight of the tournament.
"Sam left the field to undergo an initial assessment where it was deemed he had sustained a concussion," club doctor Trefor James.
"He was then admitted to the hospital for further observation and released a short time later.

"Sam is recovering well and we’ll continue to monitor his health over the coming days before determining a return to play date."
With possibly two players on the sidelines, the Renegades will be relieved to see captain Aaron Finch and bowler Kane Richardson return from Australia's one-day international series in India.
But after 10 defeats from their 12 matches, the defending champions are already out of contention to qualify for the knock-out stage and could yet finish bottom of the pile if they fail to win both of their remaining matches.
