Veteran seamer Siddle was visibly struggling with his back but kept on bowling in Strikers' defeat by Hobart Hurricanes on Monday
Matt Short will captain Adelaide Strikers in their next two games after Peter Siddle was ruled out with a lower-back issue.
The veteran seamer was visibly struggling but kept on bowling in Strikers' defeat by Hobart Hurricanes on Monday and will miss both the reverse fixture on Thursday and next Tuesday's clash with Melbourne Renegades.
With Travis Head and Alex Carey both on Test duty with Australia, Short – who has scored 221 runs in seven matches so far this season – is set to take the reins for the first time for Jason Gillespie's side.
Short will likely be partnered at the top of the order by Jake Weatherald, who has offset by Siddle's injury by returning from an abdominal strain. He will replace Henry Hunt, who has been left out of Adelaide's squad.

Meanwhile, Cameron Boyce could make his second debut for Strikers after recovering from a calf problem suffered in pre-season.
The leg-spinner, who played seven T20Is for Australia between 2014 and 2016, returned to Adelaide ahead of this campaign after leaving Melbourne Renegades, for whom he took four wickets in four balls in his final appearance for the club.
