Adelaide: Adelaide Strikers 202-4, Melbourne Renegades 182-6 - Adelaide Strikers won by 20 runs

Scorecard

Chris Lynn's third half-century of the BBL12 season set the platform for Adelaide Strikers to secure a second successive victory and keep them firmly in the hunt for a place in the knockout rounds.

Lynn smacked the Melbourne Renegades attack all around the Adelaide Oval in his 69 not out from 37 balls, as the Strikers posted 202 for 4 from their 20 overs.

And it proved to be too much for the Renegades, whose own winning run was ended at two matches as they could not keep pace with the required rate.

Strikers, batting first after losing the toss, enjoyed a fast start courtesy of captain Matt Short. Short bullied his way to 38 from 22 balls, and shared in an opening partnership with Ryan Gibson worth 63 in 6.3 overs - but when both batsmen fell to Renegades debutant Ruwantha Kellapotha in the space of three balls, a rebuild was necessary.

Lynn and Adam Hose were initially pinned down by the Melbourne bowlers, but the Australian international soon found his feet. He lost Hose to Kane Richardson (33) but was ably supported by Colin de Grandhomme.

De Grandhomme crashed three sixes and two fours in his 16-ball stay which brought him 32 runs and a partnership of 65 in 5.1 overs with Lynn.

In response, the Renegades limped out of the traps, losing Martin Guptill, Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch in the first seven overs.

Sam Harper took the game to the Strikers, hitting powerfully over the legside in his 36-ball 63, but once he was removed by Ben Manenti with 91 still needed from the final seven overs, any lingering Renegades hopes of victory were extinguished.

There was time for some fireworks from Will Sutherland (31 from 15) and debutant Matt Critchley (33 not out from 19), but the chase had already been run.

The Strikers jump about the Renegades into third spot following this win.
