What's the match?

Sydney Sixers take on Adelaide Strikers in the 16th game of the 2021-22 Big Bash.

When is it taking place?

The game is set for Tuesday, December 21. The first ball will be bowled at 5:15pm local time (8:15am GMT).

Where is the match being played?

The game will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Who's got the form?

Only Perth Scorchers are ahead of Sydney Sixers, who are the reigning champions and look well set in their attempt to retain that crown. They have lost just once in their first four games - against a Hobart Hurricanes side inspired by Matthew Wade.

Otherwise, they have been impeccable: Josh Philippe and Moises Henriques are the competition's two leading run-scorers - Philippe has only failed to pass fifty once in four innings. With the ball, Steve O'Keefe has starred with his ageless left-arm spin. They will take some stopping.

Adelaide Strikers are one of four teams only to have won once, having felt the full force of the Ashes, with Alex Carey and Travis Head both missing to international duty. Matt Short has stepped up in their absence, though he is the only Strikers player to have scored more than 53 runs so far this season.

What's the key match-up?

Much rests on the shoulders of Rashid Khan - not bad shoulders to rest on, mind. The Afghanistan leg-spinner is the single truly elite player in Adelaide's ranks and how he fares against Sixers' much-vaunted top order will have a significant say in whether his side have a genuine opportunity of upsetting Henriques' men.

Rashid has previous against them, having picked up a hat trick in January 2020: James Vince, Jack Edwards and Jordan Silk all fell to arguably the greatest T20 bowler of all time.

He has only picked up three wickets in three games so far, with teams by and large happy to see off his threat. That said, both Dan Worrall and George Garton have proven more economical, while Peter Siddle - alongside Worrall - is their leading wicket-taker so far with four to his name.

Who are the umpires?

Bruce Oxenford and David Taylor are the men in the middle for this one.

What's the weather forecast?

A warm day in Sydney, with temperatures expected to peak around 26 degrees celsius.

What are the squads?

Sydney Sixers: Moises Henriques, Sean Abbott, Jackson Bird (Lawrence Neil-Smith), Daniel Christian, Tom Curran, Ben Dwarshuis, Jack Edwards, Mickey Edwards, Daniel Hughes, Chris Jordan (first five matches), Hayden Kerr, Nathan Lyon (Nick Winter), Ben Manenti, Stephen O'Keefe, Josh Philippe, Lloyd Pope, Jordan Silk, James Vince

Adelaide Strikers: Wes Agar, Fawad Ahmed, Alex Carey, Harry Conway, George Garton, Ryan Gibson, Travis Head, Spencer Johnson, Rashid Khan, Harry Nielsen, Liam O’Connor, Matthew Renshaw, Liam Scott, Matt Short, Peter Siddle, Jake Weatherald, Jon Wells, Daniel Worrall, Daniel Drew

What are the possible starting XIs?

Sydney Sixers: Josh Philippe, James Vince, Moises Henriques, Dan Christian, Daniel Hughes, Jordan Silk, Hayden Kerr, Chris Jordan, Ben Dwarshuis, Steve O'Keefe, Lloyd Pope

Adelaide Strikers: Jake Weathereld, Matt Short, Harry Nielsen, Jonathan Wells, Matt Renshaw, Henry Hunt, George Garton, Rashid Khan, Dan Worrall, Wes Agar, Peter Siddle

What are the odds?

Sydney Sixers are the favourites to win this match, with Oddschecker offering odds of 5/8. Adelaide Strikers are available at 16/11.

What's the prediction?

Sydney Sixers should have far too much for an Adelaide side missing its two key batters.
