What's the match?

Adelaide Strikers take on Hobart Hurricanes in the 35th game of the 2021-22 Big Bash.

When is it taking place?

The game is set for Wednesday, January 5. The first ball will be bowled at 6.05pm local time (7.05am GMT).

Where is the match being played?

The game will be held at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.

Who's got the form?

Hobart Hurricanes are one of the sides to beat in the BBL. After winning just one of their opening four matches, the Hurricanes defeated Melbourne Stars, Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades to climb up to fourth in the table. However, in their last outing, they lost to Brisbane Heat by 14 runs.

Adelaide Strikers, by contrast, are languishing at the bottom of the table with just one win - a 49-run victory over Melbourne Renegades in their second match of the season - in eight matches. They have, however, swept up six Bash Boost points so are unlikely to come away from the match empty handed.

In the reverse fixture, Hobart Hurricanes won by seven wickets thanks to a 60-ball 110 from Ben McDermott.

What's the key match-up?

Brisbane Heat found the key to defeating Hobart Hurricanes on Saturday: removing openers Matthew Wade and Ben McDermott early doors. The pair have scored a combined 529 runs in BBL 11 and both have tournament strike rates in excess of 140.

McDermott, in particular, has been impressive, posting two centuries and scoring at a strike rate of 168.09. Removing him inside the powerplay is key.

The question is, who will step up with the ball for the Strikers? Rashid Khan has done heavy-lifting for his side, taking a team-leading 11 wickets and conceding just 6.87 runs per over. Peter Siddle has also taken 11 wickets but has proved expensive, recording an economy of 9.85 while Daniel Worrall and Fawad Ahmed are the only players other than Rashid to concede fewer than eight runs per over.

Also keep an eye on Hobart bowler Tom Rogers. The 27-year-old, who has just 19 T20 appearances to his name, is second in the golden arm standings, with 14 wickets and an economy of 7.03.

Who are the umpires?

To be confirmed.
