The most expensive Gray-Nicolls bat in our selection, the Gray-Nicolls Tempesta received generally positive reviews
RRP: £325, Edges: 36mm, Weight: 2lb 9oz
The most expensive Gray-Nicolls bat in our selection didn’t wow our testers but received generally positive reviews.
Both Nick and Huw liked the look of the Tempesta Gen 1.0 5 Star, which has a pleasing blue, yellow and silver motif and a bright yellow handle alongside the classic Gray-Nicolls branding.
Alex Tudor and several of the students felt the ball came nicely off the middle of the bat, although some were unconvinced by how it played away from the sweet spot.
“Probably a little bit late for me if you hit it off the edge or the toe, but once it comes out of the middle, it’s very nice,” one student said. “I think it’s very specific,” another said.
Overall, Nick had “no complaints” while one of the students thought it was “really good quality”. However, Huw perhaps best summed up the Tempesta, stating: “A perfectly good bat. Not as old school as the Powerspot, not as funky as the Shockwave. Depending on the price point, nothing wrong with it at all really.”
