This will be his second time as captain and he will replace former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, who led the side during the previous two seasons
Big-hitting batsman Chris Lynn has been named as Brisbane Heat captain for the 2018/19 Big Bash season.
He will replace former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, who led the side during the previous two seasons.
This will be Lynn’s second time captaining the franchise, having been skipper during their 2016/16 campaign, in which he finished as the Player of the Tournament.
Despite his personal success that season, the Heat finished bottom of the points table. However, he has captained Queensland in the JLT One-Day Cup this year and has had more success, making it to the semi-finals.
Chris Lynn previously captained the Brisbane Heat during the 2015/16 Big Bash
“I really enjoyed the experience I had as Heat captain previously and likewise with Queensland,” he explained. “Leadership is something I have enjoyed since I was a young bloke starting out and I'm confident I am ready to handle it in the BBL.
"We have got a settled squad with talent to burn and I can't wait to get into the season and have a go."
Lynn looks in fine touch going into the tournament, having scored 113 off 45 balls in a T20 grade match on Sunday.
Injury has affected his form over 2018, which is reflected by his drop from number 20 in the T20 Player Index to 36.
