England have named an unchanged squad for the third Ashes Test at Headingley.

Joe Root's side had to settle for a draw at Lord's in the rain-affected second game of the series against Australia, meaning they must win at least two of the remaining matches to regain the Ashes.

Jason Roy retains his place in the 12-man party despite two failures of the bat last week, while Joe Denly is kept on in the middle order.

Sam Curran, the only member of the squad not to play at Lord's, is also included.

Curran is currently playing for Surrey against Hampshire at The Oval but will leave his county teammates at the end of the second day's play on Monday.

Surrey have been permitted to draft in a replacement, and Conor McKerr will fill in for Curran for the remainder of the game.

Jimmy Anderson, meanwhile, is not fit enough to be considered for selection as he continues his recovery from a calf injury.

Anderson will play for Lancashire's 2nd XI against Leicestershire in a three-day friendly from Tuesday.

England say he will "be assessed on an ongoing basis", with the hope that he is fit enough to be available for the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford, which is due to begin on Wednesday, September 4

Squad: Root, Archer, Bairstow, Broad, Burns, Buttler, Curran, Denly, Leach, Roy, Stokes, Woakes
