The 34-year-old allrounder is playing just his third Test match but has seemingly taken the decision to end his red-ball availability
Afghanistan allrounder Mohammad Nabi is set to retire after his side's one-off Test match against Bangladesh concludes.
The 34-year-old is currently playing just his third Test match, and the game against Shakib Al Hasan's men will likely be his last with the decision of retiring from red-ball cricket.
While there has been no official statement from Nabi himself, Afghanistan's team manager Nazim Jar Abdurrahimzai appeared to confirm the news on Thursday.
''Yes, he [Nabi] will retire after the ongoing Test match,'' Jar Abdurrahimzai told Cricbuzz.
The reason for Nabi's retirement from Test cricket is as yet unknown, but according to Cricbuzz he is hoping that he can prolong his white-ball career by stepping away from the longer format.
The 34-year-old has impressed in various T20 competitions around the world, including with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, Melbourne Renegades in the BBL and most recently Kent in the T20 Blast.
Afghanistan are not one of the sides involved in the World Test Championships, and will next play red-ball cricket when they face West Indies in Dehradun in November and December.
