With Laurie Evans sustaining an injury while batting, the Scorchers' issues with wicketkeepers continued, and they were forced to call on Brayden Stepien, who wasn’t even present at the ground at the start of the day, to take the gloves.
Earlier in the day, the Strikers' first game without Rashid Khan was going well as leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed picking up the wickets of Evans (39) and Kurtis Patterson (25) on his way to taking 3 for 30 from his four overs.
Peter Siddle (2-20) continued his fine tournament picking up his 19th and 20th wickets to draw him level with Rashid.
