Chris Cooke has put pen to paper on a contract extension at Glamorgan.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who will act as the county's vice-captain in 2018, will remain at the club for a further three years.

The new deal means that, by 2021, Cooke will have spent a decade on the pro books at the SWALEC Stadium.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the past seven years at Glamorgan and I am more than happy to commit my future to the club,” he said.

“We have a good squad and if we can continue to build around the pillars of experience with the promising young Welsh talent coming through our development programme, we will have a bright future ahead.

“We have shown particularly encouraging form in T20 cricket over the past few years and I am sure we can continue to compete against the best in the country in this form of the game whilst making strides in red ball cricket.”

“Over recent years Chris has proved himself to be one of the most talented wicketkeeper-batsmen in the county game as well as being a great role model in the dressing room,” said Hugh Morris, Glamorgan chief executive and director of cricket.

"We are delighted Chris has committed the next three years to Glamorgan and I have no doubt he continue to have a positive impact on Glamorgan Cricket and Welsh cricketers both on and off the field.”
