India to play warm-up match against County Select XI before England Test series
Warwickshire skipper Will Rhodes will lead the County Select XI which will face India in a three-day match at Durham.
The fixture, which is scheduled to begin at the Emirates Riverside in Durham on July 20, will pit a team of players from the county circuit against the world number two-ranked Test side as part of India’s preparations for their five-match series against England in August and September.
The squad, which will be overseen by Young Lions head coach Richard Dawson, was selected after consulting with first-class counties on player availability and to provide some of the high potential talent from across the county game with the chance to test themselves against Virat Kohli’s India.
Among the players selected alongside Rhodes include England and Gloucestershire wicketkeeper James Bracey, who made his Test debut against New Zealand in June, Nottinghamshire’s opening batsman Haseeb Hameed and upcoming Sussex spinner Jack Carson.

Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire dominate the side, with four and three representatives, respectively, while there is one player each from Leicestershire, Lancashire, Middlesex, Gloucestershire, Sussex, Worcestershire and Somerset.
The players will undergo Covid testing before being cleared to play in the match.
