New Zealand confirm squad for England tour and World Test Championship final

Tim Seifert will stay in India for treatment after testing positive for Covid-19, New Zealand Cricket have confirmed.

He becomes the fourth Kolkata Knight Riders player to contract the virus after failing two pre-departure PCR tests.

Kiwi players will take chartered flights out of India following the postponement of the IPL in two groups, one bound for home while the other heads for the Test tour of England, via the Maldives.

But Seifert will not be among them and is due to be transferred to Chennai where he will be treated for "moderate symptoms" at the same hospital as Michael Hussey has been stationed since he tested positive.

Chief executive David White said: "It's really unfortunate for Tim and we'll do everything for him that we can from this end, and hopefully he will be able to test negative and be cleared and approved for discharge as soon as he's well again.

"Since receiving the news, we've organised support for Tim and have also – via the players association, been in contact with his family to ensure they're kept fully informed and updated on developments."

The Black Caps' IPL players and staff involved in the two Tests against England and the World Test Championship final against India next month were due to arrive in the UK next week (May 11), but that is likely to be pushed back by at least seven days.

Kane Williamson, Kyle Jamieson, Mitchell Santner, physio Tommy Simsek and trainer Chris Donaldson will all head to the Maldives before moving on to England.

Trent Boult is among those to return home but he will head to the UK in early June in time for the WTC final at The Ageas Bowl (June 18-22).
